If you would, please, take a moment and visit this link (especially if you are in Houston). Read Rocco's story, and consider fostering a dog or cat. A lot of people aren't able to commit to keeping an animal forever, but maybe could handle it for a short time. You cannot imagine what it would mean to an animal to just be somewhere with a soft place to sleep and a little tenderness while waiting for it's forever home.

Edited to add : Robyn just got news that a lot of dogs are about to be put down today and tomorrow. If you are at all able to come adopt, please do.

Also, Robyn is AWESOME at pet photography. If you happen to have insanely beautiful pets and have not been able to capture just how stunning they are with your camera, you might want to send her a little note and hire her to help you out.

Here are some of her other photographs:

Wow, Rocco is really gorgeous. As soon as I get my H1B visa (leading to full citizenship, I hope!), I'm definitely going to adopt a dog in need. My mom and dad have a beautiful, adopted bullsmastiff back home, and I really miss him.

I have a house full of cats. The only dogs we have had in here are the the occasional lost dog .

You can volunteer at BARC if you are interested in helping out.

I don't think there's a BARC office here in Chicago (where I just moved from Australia), but there is a great-sounding organization called PAWS. I was thinking about going over there this weekend, introducing myself and seeing if there were any evening volunteer positions available. Thanks!

I really really want a doggie but can't convince the hubster to go for it?

Got any manipulation *cough* I mean persuasion tips?

Ask what his objections are. Try to find ways around the objections. Doesnt like shedding? Find a dog that doesn't shed. Doesn't like barking, find one that doesn't bark loud (btw.. a pug has the most ridiculous excuse for a bark)

How about a cat? all you do is set out food and water and clean a box. Don't have to walk them.
