My brother called me Thursday am to tell me that our 92 year old grandmother died in her sleep. He and my nephew, Stephen, both offered to pay for the plane fair for my sister, Con and I to come up. We took my brother up on it. We stayed at his house and there was the usual crap that comes with that. He spend most of his life on every drug you can imagine and then got clean when he went to prison about 12 years or so ago for writing 10,000 in hot checks. He has slipped once since he was released. Being on drugs for about 38 years or so severely stunts your emotional and spiritual growth. I am the *one* person in our family that can stand to be around him for any length of time. Not a single one of us had a happy childhood. Our father and their mother were both drunks. Their mother died of MS when my 37 year old sister, Karen, was 5. Daddy was remarried to my mother and she adopted Karen. David has ADHD like Connor, Robert (his 2nd son), our father, and I do. He was too much to handle and was whipped and shipped off to a boys home. Linda was treated like an angel because she pretty much was, and Karen was the last before their mother died and was 12 years younger than David. David is the only racist in our family, and has previously tried to stop saying nigger and telling racist jokes around Connor, because he really does love him. I don't know if it was the grief or the stress, but he didn't try to hold back this trip. I listened to him tell his racist jokes and asked him to stop, I listened to him berate his children and talk about his son's mother (she is a crack addict and her husband is a drug dealer) in front of Robert and their half brother Tyler. It was disgusting.
