So my kid has this problem talking to strangers. He cannot seem to stop. He has absolutely no impulse control and has never had anything really bad happen to him, so it is hard to make him understand how absolutely evil people can be. He has been getting better at not talking to strangers though.
Today he failed. We have a neighbor that I have seen only a couple of times. I do not know him very well and cannot ever recall his name. Connor walked out the front door to take out the trash. This takes about 20 steps and he usually runs the whole way there and back. He stopped to look up a ladder that was leaning against our building going up to the roof. When the neighbor passed by Connor asked him what the men were doing on top of the building (His question, initiating the conversation, was left out when he recanted the incident later). The man told him he didnt know and asked what his name was again and where he lived. Something clicked in Con and he realized that this dialog was not supposed to be taking place, he glared at the man, and turned on his heel and walked in the house. The man came and knocked on the door. The fucking child answered the door. Anwered the goddamn door. My sister was in the bathroom. The man said he didn't mean to scare Con and asked if I was home so he could explain. Con glared at him and closed the door in his face. Didn't lock it of course. This is a child that can never ever be left alone... not at age 10, 11, 15, 18, 25. Jesus.
