Gay Marriage
Feb. 29th, 2004 01:01 amI am getting really frustrated that noone that is against gay marriage can tell me what bad thing is going to happen if Gays are allowed to marry.
My sister was listening to NPR and my son (age 10) was in the back seat. He asked why there were people that cared if gay people got married or not. My sister asked what Connor thought would change if Gays married. He said, "I don't know."
Fini asked, "will they have children?"
Connor said, "NO! Oh my god, we would go extinct!!!"
Fini asked, "If they voted to allow gay marriage next week, would you marry a man?"
Con said, "Of course not! I am not gay!"
So... it seems as if a great deal of conservative people think like a 10 year old boy's knee jerk reaction.Frightening.
It is not like we are going to force anyone to marry gay. Noone is going to marry their dog. Dogs cannot apply for a license. Their children are not going to be automatically gay just like the children of heterosexual children are not automatically straight.
If the conservatives win and they outlaw gay marriage in the constitution with an amendment, I think since they are so concerned with the sanctity of marriage, they should have punishments for the assfaces that break their vows and cheat. Since the sanctity of marriage is so damned important. I will be fine, since I have no desire to marry and I generally do not cheat on people.
