derektion about my job ( as an online banker for Bank One) and told him about a deposit call I took one time.. thought I would share. talkdirtytome knows what all this is about. I just know she misses it here!
Derek : What's the stupidest thing a customer has ever said to you?
Marilyn: easy... conversation went like this:
C:I don't understand how I am overdrawn
M:ma'am.. your balance was $XX.XX and then checks number 1, 2, 3, and 4 posted for XX.XX and that caused your account to be overdrawn by XX.XX
C: that is impossible, I just mailed those checks 3 days ago becuase my deposit will be direct deposited tomorrow.
M: it is what?
C: there is no way those checks cleared yet
M: *silence* not sure how to respond to that...
C: HELLO?!?!!?!
m: I am here.. but the checks did clear. I read off the check numbers and the amounts they were written for.. I can see a front and back copy of each check and tell you who they were written to and what bank they were deposited into.. if they didn't clear there is no way that I would have that information
C: how did they clear so quickly?
M: well, ma'am, two of them were converted through a lockbox and submitted electronically.
C: I didn't authorize them to do that.
M: You didn't have to, you gave them a check. I am assuming it is because you wanted to pay them..
C: not until my money is in my account..
M: Ma'am.. that is why checks are not to be written until the funds are actually in the account to cover the checks.
C: No one ever told me that my funds had to be in my account to cover checks that I write.
M: Ma'am.. there are whole laws written about that....
C: *click*
