Possum

I wrote about there being a mouse in the kitchen when we had that first cold snap last week. Then this weekend my sister was watering plants and saw a big fat rat.
Now it seems as if it is not a big fat rat, but an adorable baby possum. Our neighbor came to the door to tell us there is what appears to be a possum upstairs on the balcony. We went upstairs to look at it and it was all I could do to keep from squealing. So very cute. I adore possums. Won't touch it, because I enjoy being disease free and having 10 fingers, but I like to see them. He was huddled in a corner between two apartment doors and was just staring at us with his little "spy vs spy" triangle face. Then I noticed the little dish of food.
I turned to the neighbor and said, "Contgratulations, Jaime. You have a baby possum now"
Why would it go back to the bayou when it can have someone give it dishes of cat food?
It was really cold out last night, so I hope it went back to it's mother. It wasn't there this morning. I also am hoping that it doesn't decided to crawl in through our mail slot. I like vermin, I just don't like it hanging out in my house.
