heh.. cute title. . . like I cook.

This morning, Fini, Connor and I got in the car, and were running late. We were driving through jack in the box (4 houses down and around the corner from home) and Connor said, "We have to go back!" I gave him my keys and we told him to run home and we would pick meet him there.

We went through the drive through and circled back home. He wasn't out front. I called the home phone on my cell and he didn't answer. I was doing really good about not breaking down and crying. I called again while Fini went in and began searching the rooms. we were worried someone followed him in. I finally saw him rounding the corner at the end of the street. He had run back to Jack in the Box.

He will be 13 in 11 days. We have to at some point trust him to take a bus home or walk 1/2 a block down the street and not get snatched and killed. He is making past the age where some bad things happened to me. Someone tried to snatch me via car when I was 8 in my neighborhood and I was molested by a neighbor age 9-12.
Lots of other kids do it. He is smart and we have certainly scared the crap out of him enough so that he is concerned and mistrusting of adults.

It is terrifying being a parent.

Those fears you speak of never really go away. I've learned to kinda push them into a corner of my brain.

Lately, I fear her being in car crashes.

you never really get used to it.
lately i've found one fear replacing another.
[though the original ones never really go away]
