Lately, all my weekends are full of big fat nothing. Today was so full.

I got up early and scanned all tax stuff and called and got information on 1098's that weren't received. I sent it all to my brilliant mother that manages to get us fatter tax returns than we can do on our own.

I got in a shower and a nap and then Karen and I went to vote. It was beautiful. In Harris County, there are a lot more democrats doing early voting than republicans.

We then went to the Station Museum of Contemporary Art. There was an AES+F exhibit.

I really liked "Defile". You can click it to read more about it, but the short of it is dead bodies in haute couture.

I was really quite moved by Suspects: Seven Sinners and seven Righteous

From the site "The realization of the project had begun in one of the reformatories for criminal girls. Seven girls had been selected for photographing. It was explained to them, that their portraits would be exposed anonymously together with portraits of ordinary, nothing remarkable girls. The girls who agree were photographed on a neutral background, which is not bearing on self-any atmosphere of reformatory institution. Moreover, it was offered to them to represent themselves for shooting as much as possible attractively how they see themselves (hairdo, make-up, and nice clothes). Seven other girls had been photographed in Moscow school also on a neutral background. "

The last part of the exhibit was The Last Riot. I am not entirely sure l liked this, let along GOT it. It was a video displayed on 3 screens.

We drove past the Obama Headquarters on Travis. The Murals on the side of this goldenrod painted building are striking.

We shared fried pickles and a vegetarian rueben at Katz's Deli and are now watching 28 Weeks Later with Connor. I have a feeling Con is sleeping in my room tonight. He is on the couch tucked into a ball watching it.

Oh and thank god, after visiting two Valeros and the train platform, I found a Valero that was able to sell me a freaking Metro Q card. So, that is out of the way. It is a relief.

In all honesty, Karen and I make better fried pickles than ANYONE, but I hate frying things in my house.

Vegetarian reuben has sour kraut, russian dressing, muenster cheese, swiss cheese, tomatoes, alvacado, on rye.

I could do with less cheese.

The seven.. Not sure. No way to know. I think I could pick a few of them, but there is no way to know which ones were the killers. There is a story posted about each murder, and they state they were all unmotivated, but I saw motivation and had follow up questions about each one. Not exactly the point of the exhibit though.

I could just picture these girls and what they did. It immediately takes me to "what happened to these girls before this? What in their lives led up to this?"

Whoa, those murals on the Obama campaign wall are excellent! Do you mind if I snag one and make an icon out of it?
