Con’s animal sightings
Jun. 11th, 2008 06:25 pmIn addition to Con volunteering at the Houston Children’s museum this Summer, he is volunteering with the Herman Park Conservation Posse. That one will only last 3 weeks. It is full of all kinds of great experiences and speakers.
Yesterday was Con’s first day. While on a tour of the park, he sent me a picture of a female turtle who was in the process of laying eggs.
Today, he sent me a photo of a nutria .
I told him if he ever forgets his lunch, he can catch one of those and eat it. They are a delicacy in China and go for $75 a pound.
He is not interested in eating giant water rats.
I think he is going to have a Summer that he will be able to reflect fondly on. Certainly beats of Summer of sitting home playing video games and getting squishy.

Date: 2008-06-12 01:25 am (UTC)We had them here for awhile, the coonasses brought them over to eat the water hyacinth that was crowding the canals and ponds, and they started breeding like crazy. They had rewards for whoever brought them in...dead or alive. Haven't seen any out at the duck pond lately.
