What was he thinking.
Aug. 24th, 2004 11:54 pmI have a friend Ayman, who is upset because he is being called back to Lebanon because they are having a general draft. Up till now, he has been able to pay someone off and not go. He was in the special forces there, a sniper. Here he is a student and a teacher at HCC and UH Clearlake. He says it took him years to become a civilized man after he got out of the Lebenese Army.
He was supposed to leave Monday AM, and we said our goodbyes Saturday night. I felt so bad for him. He desperately doesn't want to go and be part of any of that shit there. He said he cannot just not go because he is not a citizen here yet and his family is still there. He is concerned for their safety if he doesn't go back. So Monday I was feeling sad for several reasons, but also concerned for my friend. He desperately wants to stay here.
Monday night he calls me and asks if he can come by to see me. I am perplexed. What is he doing here? He is supposed to be on way to Lebenon.
The dear sweet fool went to catch his plane 45 min before takeoff, with no luggage, just a small carry on bag.
I fell into a fit of giggles.
Middle Eastern man, connecting to an international flight. Ex Special Forces for Lebenese army, and you have no luggage, just a little bag.
Yeah, they had a few questions for him. He had to reschedule his flight for this morning.
