Jesus, I am a special kind of broke. We are a special kind of broke. We are looking at the fact that any money we get will have to go toward bills. Even if my brother sends money like he usually does, it has to go to bills. I have no idea how we are going to swing Christmas for Connor let alone anyone else. I feel like a giant loser.

I know the feeling, as I have to scramble to pay off my bills next month to be able to get some Christmas for my family. Darn medical bills and not being able to afford health insurance!

I have health insurance, but pay about $200 a month for it.

I know the feeling.
I shouldn't have bought the DVD/VCR but I can't tape with the other VCR I have (NO remote for it so no programing) and the DVD player is cheap and don't play that well.
I shouldn't have went to Miami Yesterday but I did.
I have a late-ish phonebill which I am gonna take care of next pay.
BUT the net is paid for, LJ is paid till May and I got plenty of things I need.
IF I could help you, I would.. Let me know what Connor might like from "Santa" and if you can get things delivered to "work"

We are going to have to ask our nephew for $ to make sure the bills are paid. I would be nice to end a month with every bill paid at least enough to make it current.

[identity profile] fanatic.livejournal.com 2004-11-14 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
well still let me know what Connor wants from Santa and I'll see if I can help Santa do his thing.

That is really sweet, but no thank you.
We can figure something out.

[identity profile] fanatic.livejournal.com 2004-11-14 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm working during the days and I'm on NOW + I'm on at night usually from the time I get home till the time I got to bed which is about 9ish.

Right there with you, unfortunately. It's really hard when you have a kid though, nobody ever wants them to have to do without! Got my fingers and toes crossed for you, and hope that something works out...

[identity profile] serene-orange.livejournal.com 2004-11-14 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily, he is not a greedy little kid. He has a wide variety of tastes and family and friends that have $$ that love to shop for him.

Don't you dare call yourself a loser!

Most of us are in the same boat. I think you're a WINNER!

[identity profile] serene-orange.livejournal.com 2004-11-14 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
aww.. Aren't you the supportive person. Thank you.

I think we're all having the same problems. Welcome to the super fantastic economy of the year 2004.

For what it's worth, I think my sweetie and I are going to postpone our Hmas until I get my yearly bonus (around Valentine's Day) and then just buy ourselves some treats we always wanted. Mostly DVD series of TV shows, because that's major entertainment around here. Then any money we have for gifts can go to others and we don't have to worry about ourselves.

Still, plenty of people are going to be getting the ever-economical hot cocoa sampler packs this year.

My sister and I are going to give each other the gift of not buying each other gifts. That is a shame, though because she is one of my favorite people to shop for.

I know this probably isn't an option, but maybe pick up a seasonal part-time job? Working maybe 2 nights a week or on a Sunday or something and use that for Christmas? I don't know...I don't have kids so I don't really know how the child care thing would work for something like that. But, I work a part-time job and it helps a whole bunch! (And if you go to the right store you can use the discount to your favor, too!)

Because of commute time, I am hardley home. I wake up at 5 am. I get home at 7 pm. Con goes to bed at 8:30. I work one Saturday a month.
Not fair to ask Karen to pick him up, take him to school, *and* watch him Saturday and Sunday so I can work. I may be able to get some overtime at work and just come home later. Time and a half is decent on my salary.
