You poor bastards working retail today, god I feel for you. My worst day at work is nothing like the hell the poor people working at wal-mart, Target, Sams, Kmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and all the other retail places will go through today.

I hope somehow civility is contageous today. I hope you have the opportunity to stick unruly bastards with a straigh pin and their parents don't find out. I hope anyone that is rude to a sales clerk gets their packages stolen from their cars while torturing the next sales clerk. I hope my father makes it home in one peice. I hope if my mother goes shopping today, she makes it home in one piece (with some badass deals!).

I drove by Target on my way to work... 5:50 am and the line outside the store ran the full length of the building.

About 3 years ago, I did the walmart thing the day after thanksgiving. They had the game boy xp on sale and I wanted to get it for Con. I will never ever do that again. The way people behaved was disgusting. Grown women were threatening each other. The police had to come in to make sure that a riot didn't break out.

Is it wrong that I'm willing to pay the regular price for the luxury of not having to deal with the masses? I'm sure it says something about me... but what exactly?

it says the same thing about you that it says about me. I would rather pay a little bit more to not be around a bunch of obnoxious fuckers.
there is the financial cost and the psychological cost and we value one over the other.

I believe this is what they refer to as "opportunity cost" in economics.

What the world...needs now...is ci-vility!

Haven't worked a Black Friday (never heard it called that before this year, but I always called today The Descent Into Hell) since 1998, and I still get stressed about this day. So help me I will never go out shopping on this day if I can help it, because I can't stand seeing people being rude to salespeople. I go out of my way to be nice, even if I am in a very bad mood myself.

Let's hope nobody gets killed today! lol
