Found, sweet black puppy

We decided to go to Kim Son for dinner. Kim Son is by downtown Houston near the freeways. I spotted a dog on the sidewalk near a busy street. Karen had me open the car door while she made nice with the pooch and scooped it up. We left Con to watch the dog while we ordered dinner to go.

We stopped at Wal-Mart and I went in to get a bag of food and some shampoo.

This poor dog has no body fat. The ribs are all showing and his tail bones (hip bones?) are poking up. He was incredibly thirsty and has only eaten a small amount. When we just look his way, he gets all giddy and walks over for the loving. He seems so grateful for the affection. It is obvious by the way he cowers that he was abused. I am not sure how old he is, but he is still a puppy. I cannot be certain, but I think the mix might be greyhound/ lab.

We have two baby gates stacked and I was surprised at how brave the cats were by coming up to the gate and sniffing. The puppy growls and the cats growl back. When he barked, Lena bucked up and ran at the gate hissing. Lena is made of awesome.

Doggy is enjoying the safety

The puppy is really enjoying being someplace safe with food and water. He is good and tells us when he needs to go outside. Unfortunately, he also expects us to go hang outside with him. I don't always WANT to go hang outside.
