Whenever we don't have a birthday party for Connor, he ends up with this weeklong celebration of him. I think that is a pretty neat trade off.  Last weekend,  his best friend was in town. He moved to San Antonio last year and Connor misses him terribly. I told Con if he did his homework quickly and with a good attitude I would bring him a great surprise. I went to get Alex and had him wait out by the gate while I told Connor to take out the trash.  When Con came out the gate, Alex scared the crap out of him. Beautiful.

We took them to see "Are We There Yet?" It is about as good as everyone thought it would be, but the kids dug it, and those two being the sensitive souls that they are, got all misty at the end. We took them for ice cream at Stucci's and took Alex home to celebrate his grandmother's birthday.

HISD had no school scheduled for Friday, Connors actuall birthday. He went with his 'Bigs' and their German Exchange Student son, Gil to Moody Gardens in Galveston. Connor had a great time. They had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and saw a IMAX film about wales.  This was also a celebration of their one year anniversary together. Conor adores them all.
Saturday he went to the Museum of Natural Science and saw an exhibit about Gold.He also went to the signing of the author of the book I bought him the night before, A Treasure's Trove . The author,Michael Stadther , wrote this beautifully self illustrated story about "twelve forest creatures whose mates disappear after being crystallized by a dark dust that falls every evening. The forest creatures combine forces with Zac, the handsome woodcarver; Ana, his beautiful half-elf, half-human wife; and their timid, chubby, winged "doth" Pook to save the creatures and restore the dying forest."  "

A Treasure's Trove  teaches children the importance of saving  the forests and working together to accomplish their goals.

Concealed in the pages of this wonderful, classically-written story are the clues to twelve very real and very valuable treasures that are hidden around the continental USA -- treasures similar to the crystallized forest creatures in the story -- beautiful jewels worth over $1,000,000!

To find one of these fabulous jewels, decipher the clues in this story and go to an exact location to find a gold token. The gold token will give you the information you need to get your jewel." (taken from the website)
I stayed home and cleaned. Connor and I watched "A Shark's Tale" about 3 times. We had Dinner with the Grandparents at Chili's I tried to make Connor cheesecake from a box, but the crust was runny and the cake part was more of a pudding. Blecht. Luckily, they had cheesecake on the menu and Connor did get to have some for his birthday. He recieved a lot of toys and other gifts. Today we had Brunch with Matt, Caryn, Skyler and David at 59 Diner.

We stole Sky for the day. His birthday will actually be extended a bit further because of of his gifts was tickets to the Steve Miller Band concert in March at the Rodeo. He is taking Skyler and David.

Hmmm. I hope the film wasn't hippie propaghandi designed to damage the utilization of our nations forests. Often movies about saving the forest don't explain much of the renewable resource it is but more on how every tree standing needs to be saved. This of course is a one-sided view and harms the use. Show a perso a clear cut and they will say its ugly and raping the land. Show the same one 7 years later and they will tell you how beautiful the forest looks. SO obviously its raping the land. OK I have to stop my rant now.

he didn't learn about the forest. It is a restaurant called the rainforest cafe. It is full of stuffed rainforest animals. (stuffed animals ....not animals that are stuffed.)

The film was about wales.
