Give till it hurts
May. 31st, 2005 12:12 amWe went to the parents house today today. When we left, we took some boxes and bags to take to the women's shelter for my mother. My sister opened the trunk and said, "What the hell is that?!"
RANK STANK was wafting out and assaulting our noses. She went to the grocery store Friday and when we brought in the bags, we left a bag that had a gallon of milk inside the trunk. Luckily, there was this long plastic shallow storage bin from Connor's science fair project it was sitting in. When the heat curdled the milk, it forced the remainin water out of the top, because it was sitting in a puddle of 2 inches of slightly milky water. We are awfully lucky it didn't explode. I gagged and stepped back. We dumped the funky water down the drain at the end of the neighbors driveway. Actually, Fini did it because I started gagging and almost threw up. I brought the hose over and made sure we rinsed away the funk. We put the offensive bin and gallon in two hefty bags and drove away with them.
When we were driving through a parking lot, we saw a row of those clothing donation bins. We pulled up and I put a box in one and my sister opened the trunk and gagged. The hefty bag leaked some. It leaked on one of the bags. Best I can tell, it didn't get in the bag, but was all over it. I could not bear the thought of that stuff being all over my hands, let alone on my clothes. all of the bins were designed where one would have to hoist the bag up over head level to put it in.
No. Freaking. Way. That. Was. Going. To. Happen.
I know it is wrong and I know it was gross, but we left that bag and the one with the stinky bin sitting next to the donation bins. I just couldn't bear to put it back in the car. It was leaking anyway.
We drove away and wondered if they had cameras. Would we get a call telling us we had to pay for their donation bin to be detailed? I would gladly pay. It would be worth the money to not have to touch those things again.
I feel so bad and guilty for whatever person has to pick that up. Evil. I am evil.

... besides, I prefer whiskey, which curdles everything on the inside!

Date: 2005-05-31 08:56 pm (UTC)... hell, this is the reason I usually don't drink milk to begin with!
