I love snopes.com. That site is what I use to respond to all the crap email that people send me. It is mostly my snotty immature way of saying, "Nyah! you are an ass for beleiving this crap. Now stop bothering me." Yeah. I am charming.

I like to keep abreast of the most current crap going around, so I have the snopes.com feed on my friends list.
This headline came across today:

Did former First Lady Barbara Bush say she didn't want to waste her 'beautiful mind' on the casualities sustained during the war in Iraq?

Why..yes..yes she did. I knew I didn't like that troglodyte.

Snopes rocks, it's always got the facts... but the Mikkelsons who run it and write most of the articles are sometimes a little apologetic. Like Barb Mikkelson writes in this article about how Barbara Bush didn't mean anything bad by the "beautiful mind" comment, and I don't get that at all, and don't see where Mikkelson came up with that.

I used to participate in alt.folklore.urban where a lot of this stuff came from and where Barb Mikkelson posts a lot, so maybe it's just a context thing, I dunno.
