cats is nasty
Aug. 2nd, 2006 02:27 pmAnother cat is broken. A few months ago, Lena's (siamese) tail was broken near the end. Now, Bhodi, the dumpster cat, is missing the skin and fur at the end of his tail.

It looks like a disgusting beige winkie peeking out of the end of his tail. Karen took him to the vet yesterday because even more fur was gone later in the afternoon than in the morning. He was clearly agitated by it. We though he had a fungus or something, but the vet said the end of his tail was sheared off (skin and all). She said it was likely from a rocker or recliner, but we don't have any such furniture. Best we can come up with is he did it in a door or under a foot. I think Lena did hers in a door. Karen felt really guilty as we had 2 broken cats in less than a year, but the vet explained it really is their responsibility to keep up with where their stupid tails are.
We have to give him oral antibiotics, and do this tail soaking solution. The problem is, how do you convince a cat that doesn't particularly like to be held (by anyone but Connor) to let you soak the end of his bare raw tail in medicine water for 10 minutes. The best Connor and I could come up with last night was to have Con hold him by the scruff of the neck and stick his tail in the water and I would pet his head and say nice things coupled with a smack on the ass and a, "No Bhodi! Stay" when he would try to leave. If the medicine doesn't work and his tail turns black and he tries to eat it, he has to get some of it cut off. Poor Bhodi.
Tonight I will try swaddeling him in Connors blanket first. Poor Bhodi. Poor y'all too, because when I get a picture of that nasty tail, I am going to post it.

Date: 2006-08-02 08:15 pm (UTC)Oh man, I totally misread that sentence/read it too fast. I thought it was a piccie of the tail already. XD!
Also, we won (temporarily) with the landlady thing. We stil have to prepare stuff for when she refiles, but for now, there's no rent increase. I'll have to update my LJ about it in a minute.

Date: 2006-08-02 09:56 pm (UTC)Meh, now I can see the picture. Your poor kitties. :(
Be glad it wasn't the whole tail. That happened to one of the cats at my ex's house (her mother's boyfriend's cat). That cat, "Ginger", was AWESOME. She used to belch in my face to wake me up. XD!
But one day she was nowhere to be found and they found her in agony because her WHOLE TAIL had been stripped to the root. ;___; They had to amputate, and she didn't live but a month or so afterwards, she was in so much pain. ;______;
What is more fucked is that when I was walking home (well, home was their house at the time), I found this...thing on the sidewalk. It looked like a strip of fur. When I picked it up, I found it to be the fur/skin of Ginger's tail, in tact...as if the thing was just ripped right off, like ripping a glove off of a hand. T___T!!!
As for the landlady, I did feel a tiny bit sorry for her, as she appeared in this little room all kinda...pathetic looking.
