I know of a comedian (not a funny one) in the 80's named Emo. But I don't think that is it.

I don't know what emo music is either but I do know which comedian you mean: Emo Phillips, who once "fondled" my girlfriend at a CD-signing. OK, he just kind of squeezed her arm because he liked her sweater, but it's a story she loves to tell. He also signed her CD "Dear Rachael, Let's see you hawk this on E-Bay now, Love Emo Phillips."
