Connor is turning 13 in 9 days. 13! Sweet Jeebus!
They opened a new dojo by our house (pretty big one) and we went by and Connor got his introductory lesson and we decided that we would sign him up. We had said that if he didn't keep his grades up, we wouldn't let him continue with it, but we had to sign a year contract and they will be doing auto debit. . .
It is pricey, more than I expected, but I really liked the coach and the place. I liked their message and their values. I think it will do a lot for Connor for self confidence, self discipline, and fitness. He already has great manners. I have a picture and a video from last night.

How big my kids are makes me realize how old I am.
LOL, every time I tell my boys they are pretty,
Nicky goes.." MOM! girls are pretty...boys are handsome!"

He's very handsome. :)

Connor is glad we stop telling him that he is the prettiest little girl we know. That was pissing him off

oooooooooh, i hope it's not the Bushi Ban dojo. they're more about making money than they are about following the prinicipals of learning and martial arts.

wow, woman. he's HUGE!!!
*sigh*
gonna be a heartbreaker, that one. :)

no. This is the Meyerland Martial Art Center http://www.meyerlandmartialartcenter.com/

He is a big boy, but not freakishly so, like when he is a baby/toddler.

born 11 lbs 3 0z, 24 inches long
2 week 14 lbs
1 mo 20 lbs

he was several ages bigger then he should have been but started slowing down toward the end of elementary. though, this is him in 5th grade with some fellow students.

:)

nah. we took him out when scouts took over a good portion of his freetime [about two years ago]. but he's holding his own there. and i like their set up, though i still give my husband grief about HOW MUCH TIME they demand of them both. for instance: he's in charge of drawing up the menu for the campouts. [they're strict about preparing fresh as opposed to canned or frozen foods]. he's essentially the cook. in charge of starting and stoking the fires, using dutch ovens to prepare all their meals ... pretty much from scratch. poor thing tried making pecan pie in the last camp out ... but forgot that the fires have to be kept at constant temperature for [get this] three hours. :P but he's learning. and building character. so we're quite proud of him. as i'm sure you are with connor. :)
golly ... THIRTEEN! eeeeeeeeee!!! i shudder to think what lies beyond this age of innocence for them both.

goodness. I cannot cook from scratch in my own kitchen, let alone out on a fire. Impressive.

they allow shortcuts, it's nothing you couldn't do yourself. besides, this (http://www.amazon.com/Four-Ingredient-Cookbooks-Three-Cookbooks-One/dp/0962855030/sr=1-2/qid=1171058046/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-4765158-4703864?ie=UTF8&s=books) is his saving grace. they can use canned goods, but not as a complete meal [you know, like having chicken noodle soup for lunch], he's allowed to use things like canned fruit for cobblers and such. he lives for that stuff. the boy wants to be a chef when he grows up. :P

hehehe :)
i'm all for teaching boys to be self sufficient, so they don't need a woman to cook-clean-wash for them. [same as i am for girls to not rely on a man to financially support her].
rock on, momma, rock on.

Is he doing Hapkido or Taekwondo? Just curious because Emery and Jamie did Taekwondo and Brandon did Hapkido ... I prefer Hapkido, I think it has more to offer.
