Con called. He said, "Uh. My award ceremony was today." I told him how sorry I was and that I did show up 30 min early and saw the panda on the stage to let him know I really did come, but they changed the time and all.

I said, "You got an award? " He said, "Yeah, but not the one I was hoping for" I said, "what were you hoping for?" He replied , "Math."

Unfortunately, I couldn't help myself and started laughing. I choked it back and said, "I am sorry. I take it you got one for Science?"

He said yes.

How did he think he was possibly getting a Math award?

Last report card, he had all A's except a B in Spanish and an F….in Math.
Little weirdo.

Karen is out of town and Connor's award ceremony was today. I called the school on Friday  to ask what time and they said Noon to One. I left work (desk FULL of work) at 11 and was in the auditorium at 11:33. in a bit, some more parents started arriving. At noon, no students, no teachers. at 12:05, a parent called the front desk to ask what the deal was. She had called THIS MORNING and asked what time the ceremony was. They told her Noon to One.  The chick at the desk said, "Oh. We realized we scheduled it during their lunch. We have changed the time from Noon to 1:15. WTF? How do they not know when they are making the schedule that all the kids in that group lunch at Noon? I was so pissed. There would be noone there for Connor because there is just no way I could be away from my desk for 3 1/2 hours.

I am so mad at them for being so stupid and my kid getting an award without anyone there to support him. Asses. You should have heard the dissapointment in his voice. I want to cry!

Hope springs eternal in that boy.
He used to say on report card day, "I hope I get all A's" Now.. his progress reports sucked and he hadn't done any extra work. We would actually feel bad for him knowing how disappointed he was going to be and for how he honestly wasn't seeing a correlation between the work that he did and the grades he received

You shouldn't feel bad - it really wasn't your fault and he needs to understand that. Unfortunately we have to live in a world with stupid people and those things happen. There will be more awards in the future (hopefully) and you will be there for those (hopefully) :O)

I don't feel guilty about it, but I do feel bad for him. We are usually there en mass (Me, Karen, Caryn, Matt, David, Skyler, Mom, sometimes Dad). And today, no one. He was looking for me.
