This was such a beautiful weekend. The weather was just gorgeous. House is clean, laundry is almost done.

Went to the Bayou City Art Festival. Nice way to find inspiration, get some excersize and fresh air. Two pieces by Jay Long earned a place on our walls.

These two will be in either the dining room or the study.

The Dreaming Child

Did not get this one, but I really really want it

I also really liked Denise Jaunsem. I would like to buy some of her work later.

I think the next art I get will be from Kavan Geary. The photographs look like they are lit from inside the frame. They are amazing. I was impressed by them all but especially captivated by

We had dinner at Mai's. The wait staff was just as rude as they have always been. The food was delicious as always. We were sitting right near what appeared to be the most ghetto/ biker group of church people I have ever run across and a person who I know through other people and it was an absolute delight seeing who he was with. I tried to take a photo, but it just didn't come out very clearly. It is just nice to know that as a person goes through life screwing beings over, their life just gets worse and worse. It put a sickeningly joyful topping (yes I at least have enough shame to feel bad about my shadenfraude) on a really good weekend.

Jay Long is an Austin resident I believe, I've seen his stuff also at the Pecan Street Festival, each piece was beautiful, I love the texture and depth. Good for you for getting art. I can only afford what my friends draw for me on napkins, hopefully when I'm a rich librarian one day that will change, (cough).

It's a favorite of his, so I'm not very surprised.

The rude staff has kept me away for about 8-9 years. That info right there will continue to keep me away

He usually only goes during the week since it's near the studio. I guess he convinced some dumb woman to buy him a meal made a special trip.
