I have a copy of a Deed in Spanish (and translated into English) signed July 6, 1824 executed by the Empresario Stephen (Estevan) F. Austin to William Parker for a league of land in In the town of San Felipe de Austin. This was 21 years before Texas was admitted as a State into the US by treaty.

I just think it is cool is all.

That is DAMN cool! Will they let you make a copy of it? Probably not, but even a copy would be a neat collector's item.

In this usage, it is a unit of area being equal to 25,000,000 square varas or approximately 4428.4 acres

which, yes, is a little under 7 miles

there happens to be a lotta land down here.

3 years earlier he inherited his father's empresario grant to move 300 foreign (anglo) families to Spanish Texas. This deed would be part of that.

While traveling there, Mexico won its independance from Spain, and his grant was reauthorized by the Mexican Government, so this is a Mexican deed
