When we moved into the house over a year ago, we noticed a little bagel shop down the street. This morning, I was craving bagels and schmear, so I hopped in the car, bought a baker's dozen of onion, poppy seed, and pumpernickle bagels and an onion schmear, honey nut schmear, and vegetable schmear.

Oh holy hell! These are the best bagels I have ever had in my life. Sweet Jeebus!

They were apparently named Best Bagel Shop in the Houston Press.  If you should find yourself in the Meyerland area and in need of the best damn bagel you will ever stuff in your mouth, do yourself a favor and head to

My favorite is cream cheese mixed with green onions.

My sister and son LOVE the cream cheese mixed with strawberry. I am usually eating a onion bagel, so that wouldn't be so hot on mine. Also, I don't like sweet first thing in the morning.

bethr visited over the weekend and we attended the New York Writers Workshop Non-Fiction Pitch Conference together. When the conference ended before driving her to La Guardia airport we went to Zabar's so she could bring home real NY bagels (and chocolate babka).
