eat_my_bento and I started looking through them. It seemed like a nice creative outlet while doing something healthy for myself as well.
I never cook. I am just not a natural cook. I need to. I am hoping it will help me see food differently. See it as something creative, ceremonious, and healthy to do for me as opposed to something to shove in my gullet and keep working, or eat quickly because my blood sugar is too low, or to munch while I am bored.
This is on its way to me as we speak.
Until then, I have been using a round container from Chinese food take out.
So far, I have made these lunches. (sometimes I ate the same thing 2 days in a row.

This is carmelized tofu with walnuts, spinach, jasmine rice, a light laughing cow cheese wedge, and some spicey/ Sweet pepper my sister brought for me to put in my lunches.

This is fake meat bbq cups, laughing cow cheese wedge, cherry tomatoes and a fruit salad in orange, pineapple, and pomegranite juice.

This is cranberry/ sweet potato couscous from whole foods, tortillas, laughing cow, cherry tomatoes and carrots.
I am not feeling any thinner or anything, but I do feel healthier than when I eat something else. Friday, I woke up late and didn't make anything, so I ate a veggie burger at work. I really like making my lunches (especially when I cook them).

Date: 2008-05-05 06:08 pm (UTC)My main problem is that I wait too long to eat and then want something really quick. I'm not too good at advance meal planning. So, what I've started doing is cooking double batches of several meals on one day, then dividing a meal-sized portion (along with veggies and starch serving) and freezing it in a divided microwavable dish. All I have to do is pick one and nuke it. Much healthier than the frozen dinners (hopefully, anyway!).

Date: 2008-05-05 06:12 pm (UTC)I am going to start making larger batches of tofu. I am getting better at it. That way, I can just portion some out and throw a lunch together. I really do feel more alert after lunch. Before I would eat something heavy or not at all. Neither of those work very well.

Date: 2008-05-05 08:39 pm (UTC)Since my raw detox, my outlook on food has really changed. I conditioned my body enough for it to matter. The times I have strayed from healthy food (I'm thinking of one time in particular when I got a big greasy tasty slice of piece from work for lunch), I have regretted enough later to stay on track. My body just rejects shit it knows it shouldnt have. Which is good motivation to continue eating right. ;)
