no, it's still horrible. Microsoft is rushing to release Windows 7 at the beginning of 2009 to sweep Vista under the rug like it never happened, that's how bad it is :)
I actually love Vista (I have Vista Home Premium , 2.0ghz processor, 3 GB RAM) and prefer it over XP, but I know most people DEFINITELY don't feel the same way. I also do nothing of importance on this thing - I basically get online and listen to music.
If you buy a new PC with Vista it's fine. The problems really tend to be if you try to upgrade computer that isn't totally compatible or you try to use outdated hardware or software.
I've got Vista on my PC and it runs ok for the most part. If anything I need to up the RAM
The computer I use now is a Dell with Vista that I indeed purchased brand new. And I've been using it for about a year now with no problems
But even with my Gateway which I also bought brand new with Windows ME I had no problems with even though everybody and their mother were screaming at me that Windows ME was The Devil. I never tried to upgrade it. Just added more memory. I used that machine for about 10 years.
Seconded. My computer crapped out right after Vista came out and it works well. I've heard a lot of negative things from people who upgraded their systems, though.
I have two PCs running Vista now; my Motion Computing LE1700 Tablet PC (which I use for school, so I can take hand-written notes), and my new Dell XPS M1530. Both came with Vista Installed; the former, Vista Business Premium, and the latter, Vista Ultimate. There are definitely some differnces between the way they work and the way Vista works, and I'm still getting used to it, but overall, I've been VERY satisfied with it and it's performance, even with Aero turned on.
Windows 7 however, is on the horizon (they're shooting for 2009), and it is going to be based on the Vista kernel, which will mean complete driver compatibility from Vista. They've already demonstrated the multi-touch user interface (which has been packaged already into the Microsoft Surface technology); but otherwise, at present, the interface is unchanged from Vista. This is not to say it won't change, but rather, that at present, it hasn't. (Early versions of Vista used the XP interface, in fact.)
On the XP-front, Microsoft will be officially retiring the operating system this year, I believe, with the exception of installation on the slew of new "Netbooks" (as they are being called), which are ultra-light, ultra-small, ultra-portable laptops.
Ultimately though, there has to be a purpose to your question. So I'll ask: Why do you ask? :)
since I don't really hold grudges very well, you are correct. I can tell you your parents address and the previous address of the house they had before, but finding you would take longer than the 2.5 min it took me to find that- and I am not going to since I don't need it. ;)
