I wouldn't say I was pisses so much as I think it was a poor choice, and the people who already believe that crap about him aren't going to see as satire.
But if they already believe that stuff, it's not as though an image of Obama in a Captain America outfit with his wife in a US Army uniform giving George Washington a dap would change their opinions anyway, so what does it matter if they don't see it as satire?
The thing is that this is something very in step with the New Yorker magazine, anyone that is a regular reader or view at least of the editorial cartoons, know that this isn't so way out there. Of course with the super sensitivity thanks to this election, they [people on all sides] are making mountains out of molehills.
He's got a bad enough image problem to overcome, this shit doesn't help. It's disgusting, and I'm sure many racists and right wingers are loving the cover (but not everyone who felt this was funny falls under those categories). However, I still support The New Yorker's right to be absolute fucktards.
Ummm, ok. I'm laughing my ass off because that is exactly the image I had pictured in my head when I thought of him.
I don't like him, I don't like what he stands for, I don't trust him, and I don't believe a word he's said. I'm not racist, I'm not a 'right-winger', I didn't want Hillary. I'm neither Republican nor Democrat; I vote based on the attributes, experience and how convincing I find the candidates to be. I don't feel he believes in this country, and that is based on his actions and his words. When I see him on television I just get a really bad feeling for this country.
As an artist myself and an avid reader of TNY, I was able to see it for what it was. It's too bad all of these little effete "intellectuals" including Obama himself couldn't figure out the message to begin with.
Oooh, the response I just got from a screened comment. If you want to start throwing names, we can just say Obama is racist for refusing to acknowledge his white 'roots'. Geez, back the hell up.
I tried to go back and edit, but you had already replied...
"Yes it does, thank you for clarifying, and I now retract my previous comment. :D I've not seen the ad or anything else signifying his heritage from his mother's side, nor have I read the book, so that information was not readily available to me. I do know what I have read, how I've seen him portray himself, and I just don't care for any of it. Sorry if that offends anyone.
And I'm still not a racist, as someone else was rude enough to accuse. But whutevah. :P Lahdeedah."
LMAO.
And thank you. You may call me misinformed if that's how you see it. I appreciate any and all constructive criticism, but calling me names does nothing but let me see the true person behind the barb.
