The peak wind for my area is predicted to be 97 mph. That doesn't sound that bad, but I don't really know how fast that is. I am assuming that can down some power lines.

97 mph downs ALL power lines with severe damage to main transmission lines.

97 mph could knock me off my feet with no problem.

97 mph gusts means, as far as I understand it, that you should probably board your windows.

That kind of turmoil brings down trees.

Not trying to panic you, but maybe you should look a little more into how bad that's supposed to be so you can prepare? That way if I'm wrong, no big deal, but if I'm right you can get ready?

I'm pretty sure it warrants laying up a supply of candles and food you can eat cold. I'll be wishing you luck.

we have done that. I am hoping all the trees stay up though.

I had a tree hit my house in a windstorm about 5 years ago. Yanked my powerline straight off the house. I had to have $$electrician$$ come and fix it. Thankfully, homeowner's insurance paid for it, and putting us up at a hotel until we were powered up again. It all worked out, but I hope you don't go through all that, though.

Most of the local stations have "what to expect" articles on their sites. I think the one I saw was on Fox this morning.

At 97 mph on my motorcycle, I don't dare turn my head because the wind speeds push it further over.

Also, those love bugs hurt when I hit them at 97 mph. Heh

Hehe, that is with a helmet. If I don't wear my gloves. Those love bugs feel like small rocks at those speeds.

97 will knock down trees, blow down power lines & explode transformers. We had 3 hurricanes & Hurricane Frances was enough to do a tremendous amount of damage although we didn't get a direct hit and we weren't in the right front quadrant. I've been thinking about you when I saw the track change.

prediction went down again. 76 now. I have been in 76. just took a couple of shingles. That isn't so bad. (as long as I don't have any tornadoes)
