appreciate him? I took him in off the streets where he was scared and starving. Our cats have been in hiding for over a month, we are paying over $700 to keep an animal alive that we don't even intend to keep. We are trying to find a good home for him. We play with him, we feed him (sometimes by hand), we pet him and tell him he is good.
I am not a cat person. I grew up with two dogs. We had them for 9-14 years. I love dogs. Hell, I love THIS dog. I just don't want one this big and insanely needy.
If he is a street dog, you need to put up or shut up (which is basically what wakeupkent said). "Gumby" is also needy and annoying. I don't know what Gumby's past either, but he is neeeeeeedy and whiny.
You did not raise Lardass so you don't know how the Hell he was treated except that he was neglected/abused/left there to rot. You cannot blame him for being "needy", especially when he's going through that medical treatment. It can change over time, though, if you work with him, because if you pass him off to some other person without having worked with him and he turns out to be "needy", guess what? All of your work will be in vain and some asshole will dump him out on the street again (or at a kill shelter) because "he's to needy" (which we suspect happened with "Gumby"/Gio...that bitchcuntwhore who "owned" him before SAID she wanted him but then left him out on the street to rot).
Stop being so...hard headed about it. Yeah, we get it, you're a tough broad, you don't want to become completely emotionally attached to this little brat (Henry + Gio = BRATS sometime, and given that dogs have the mentality of toddlers...) and as soon as he's "all better" he's gonna go. But he needs you right now. You would be too if you weren't certain WTF is going on with you (can't imagine how taxing that medical treatment is on him). Gio was very, very needy the first two weeks...and has since calmed a little after his butt healed (weird, because Lisa said that all he did was sit there and whine a lot, but he hasn't done that here unless he has to REALLY go to the bathroom). He is still needy and needs work, but I'm working on it. He's gotten better and "stays" and seems to be pretty good--if not better--than Henry when it comes to being left behind in the crate. The crate is our lifesaver.
If yer gonna keep complaining after he's "all better" though, is there a rescue that you can give him to that will actually work with him? Now that you have a job, you probably have less time for him. :P
I don't see why it is so hard for you people to read what the hell I wrote. I will try all caps.
I GIVE HIM LOVE, AFFECTION, ATTENTION, AND TIME. HE IS NOT LACKING FOR THIS. HOWEVER, I AM REALLY ANNOYED BY HIM LATELY.
Connor gets on my fucking nerves, too, and I actually let him know about it, as he is not abused, and is a thinking, reasoning young man and will be able to understand I love him even if I talk to him sternly.
I can do the right thing and still be annoyed by having to do it. I understand WHY he is needy, which is why I take time out a few times a day to go sit on a swing with him and just sit and scratch his head and tell him, "goooood boooy"
He will either go to our friend, Robyn, who watched him while we were in TN (who he loves) or with a friend of my sister's that loves taking in underdog animals. The plan, as I have said over and over, is to take care of him, get rid of the heartworms so he can live, and give him to a home that will suit him and with someone that is going to make sure he STAYS healthy.
I didn't go pick out a dog and then decide he wasn't for me. We picked it up because it was in danger and starving so we could find a home for him.
