I have always been fascinated by looking at people from high up. When I was little, I would go to my mom's office and stare out of the sky scrapers looking out over downtown Houston at lunch time.
You know it's almost like those for Obama see/read/hear completely different media than those may not be as hopeful.
I actually stopped watching live TV and did not really surf the internet much last night because everything was so excessively pro-obama and super extravagant.
I am optimistic about the whole thing, and it's definitely a historical moment. I did not see or hear anyone complaining in the media really though, even on the more conservative news sites.
I didn't know that Rush Limbaugh still had a following. I figured all that Bush administration ass-kissing ostracized most of his regular listeners.
I never liked the guy because he was/is just a mouthpiece for the republican party and never has interesting talking points. You can get his talking points from reading yesterday's republican party newsletters i'm sure.
I was with you on the whole Rush Limbaugh is not a patriot thing, but I found out everyone, including CNN, are taking what he said out of context. All of the article headlines say "Limbaugh says "I hope he fails" "
This was at the end of a paragraph of dialog where he talks about all of the socialism-esque left-ish things that Obama wants to put into place, like socialized healthcare. He's basically stating that if Obama's success is hinging on him being able to accomplish all of these things, then he hopes that he fails.
It would be like if a right-winger was in office and said "I want everyone in america to own a gun, and I want abortions outlawed in every state, no exception", most would say "I hope he fails" at those particular issues, but not that he fails at being a president altogether.
LOL, I didn't watch the teevee at all yesterday except for the House marathon and I was JOSHIN' ya about the white people, Ms. Sensitivity (because the "ants" all look brown). Jeez, NOW who's butthurt? ;D
One of my professors today asked how many people watched at least part of the inauguration and every single person raised their hand (about 50 students). He then asked how many people had seen one before Obama and 3 people raised their hands. There were also tons of students (within student groups and on their own) who went down to DC to watch the inauguration. I love how how Obama has renewed people's interest and faith in politics.
