I couldn't get through the entire message but I agree with it: Rituals are to purify your heart, not an end in and of themselves. If your heart is not pure and clean, the rituals are about useless. Function over form. Some aspects of his delivery remind me of really bad Korean videos, but I like his message very much. Thanks for posting this.

I get the message and it is a good one, but the way the message is given is nauseating to my sister and I. There is no way I would have a man that behaved so childishly and berated people like that as my spiritual teacher.

I know almost nothing about Buddhism and will absolutely respect your judgment there. And also completely agree that his delivery was so disconcerting I couldn't even get through the vid. I definitely did not like THAT. But in my own faith, I've seen quite a few use such tactics and learned to ignore them and look for the message.
