10 reasons gay marriage is WRONG!

1) Being gay is unnatural. Except when animals do it. Then you're like OMG using animals to justify your unnatural sexual desires that turn out to be pretty natural. And animals mostly have hetero sex, so that also must be bestial and disgusting.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that legal alcohol encourages people to be alcoholics and prohibition totally worked for booze.

3) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to the end of slavery, women voting or children working in mines.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Hey, c'mon, this guy married his robot. He even has a marriage certificate to prove it:

This reminded me of an article I read in my anthropology class this year. It was called "Becoming 100% Straight" by Michael Messner and at the end of it was a "Heterosexual Questionnaire" which made fun of the questions that many gays are asked. Some of the questions were:

What do you think caused your heterosexuality?
Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you will grow out of?
Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can't you just be who you are and keep quiet about it?

And my personal favorite: Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy?

hi...got here through a series of clicks that I don't fully recall - but I'm quite interested in reading the article you referenced! I "go to " Capella for my MS (as much as one can "GO" an online University) and didn't find any of his articles in the database - but this looks like a great read. I'll contact him directly if you don't have a link to the article. BTW, best of luck with your studies. My BS is in Anthropology (talk about BS...hee hee...actually, I'm quite proud of it.)

Thanks!

Hi there! I'm an anthropology minor. We seem to be few and far between :o).

I don't have a link to the article, I only have it saved to my desktop as a PDF file but if you give me your email address I could send it to you.

he LOVES cat macros. The ghetto attempt was snarky on his part. He makes fun of the ghetto kids in his school.

Oh very nice. I have 3 kids who are completely goofy in their own, inimitable ways, and I absolutely LOVE that about them.

I loathe cat macros, myself, but I have many, many friends who ar completely obsessed with enjoy them. Go figure.
