I overslept this morning and went to wake Con up. He was taking forever to wake up, which was annoying me because I needed to walk away and get ready for work. If he drags ass after he wakes, that is fine, he can be late to school and deal with detention, but I just need to do my part of waking him up.  

After I knocked on his dresser a 3rd time and called out for him to wake up, my sister called out from her room, "He is sleepy because he was up at 11:30PM watching hentai on the compter"  I said, "WHAT?!" and Con answered, "It is true." I just said, "You're an idiot" and walked back to my room.

He is a teen and curious and blah blah blah blah.. whatever. I get it. I swear at least half of what I am irritated with is his being so damn stupid. He isn't supposed to be out of bed after 10, he isn't supposed to use the computer without permission, and he isn't supposed to surf porn, but mostly, he isn't supposed to be stupid. My sister keeps wonky hours. She comes home early, leaves late, gets up in the middle of the night, etc. There is no reason Con should have thought Karen wouldn't get up and find him on the computer. She was asleep when I got home at 6PM. of COURSE she would be up around 11 or so.

Big dummy.

Sometimes I just want to slap him awake.

We have this issue with my youngest all the time. He will stay up late doing whatever, and I swear even if we cut the electricity to his room he'd still be doing whatever...and then he's bone dead tired in the am. He will get up under threat of death, and if he falls asleep in class then he can pay the piper there. (One year he got athletic discipline for falling asleep in History, because the History teacher was the football coach. Come to think of it we never had a History teacher that wasn't named coach....) I've already told him that when he does get his license, the idea that he will be allowed to "sleep-drive" is a non starter.

he has lost his PSP forever because he kept sneaking it in bed. When he ran my phone bill up last summer, it was because he was staying up until 3-5 AM to download and play games on his cell. He has had to buy the house batteries to replace the ones he runs down with flashlights reading instead of sleeping.

I love that you get that kids are supposed to be a bit defiant, and that they're going to mess up every now and then. I also love that you, like I, have this wish that if they're GOING to break they rules, they at least be SMART about it.

I know that in the grand scheme of things, I am incredibly fortunate. He doesn't drink, have sex, do drugs, sneak out, get into fights, etc. He is mostly a really good kid.

I swear he acts like we don't catch him at anything. We ALWAYS catch him. Always. stupid head.

I took cell phone and computer privs away from my daughter for making stupid decisions. She's old enough to know better so she has to live with the consequences. Computer use is now only for school work. She's heavily supervised. I'm glad I did it because she's herself again. The whole she's a teenager excuse doesn't fly with me. If you're old enough to know the difference between right and wrong...you're old enough to learn what personal accountability means. =)

I'm not saying he did the right thing, I'm just saying that your expectation of him making the right decision all the time is contraindicated by both the normal psychology of a teenage male and some of past experiences you've posted about Con.

Hell, at least he fessed up to it, that's 99% better than most males would do. Even the of age ones.

Also, you can set Con's log-in on your computer to only be active during certain hours.

The keylogger I usually recommend is Perfect Keylogger. Its quick and easy to install and does a great job. The full version is $35, but the free version does a lot of what you need.

Access control can be done from windows, but if Con is able to get the passwords, those are kind of useless. What you can do is block some of the more popular porn sites via the HOSTS file, but that can be time consuming.

Try this though, install perfect keylogger and let him know you've done it. Change the default method for unhiding the interface. Tell him that it takes screen shots every time he goes to a webpage (it can actually do this) and there is no way for him to get around it. Its not going to stop him from getting porn all together (friends and neighbors computers and etc.) but it will help.
